The Everyday team worked alongside their partner Brook Consulting, to investigate the possible extension of life of a mid-range mini-computer used as a critical component in a key electricity supplier’s nuclear power station in north England.
The project had several phases.
- The mini-computers in use had been installed over 20 years earlier. As a consequence much of the product specification details and documentation and training manuals had been mislaid or was out of date. Everyday was able to secure access to some of the suppliers historic files and reviewed the details to provide some of the required information.
- They worked with Brook Consulting to source some critical parts required to keep the devices working
- The Everyday team were able to make recommendations to the mini-computer users on how to ensure the continued use of the systems for some years after the anticipated life expectancy of the products.
